We’ve offered sessions on things like goat care & cheesemaking, alternatives to policing, creating your own drag character, and everything in between. Join us at these now more-than-annual gatherings!

SATURDAY FIELD TRIP DESCRIPTIONS

  • Hike with Hunter (4 hrs, $0) - Join long-time OITO community member, Hunter, as he leads a hike with the Harris Center at the Kulish Ledges in Nelson, NH from 10:00am-2:00pm.

  • They Keep Bees (4 hrs, $38-52) - In this class you will learn how bees make beeswax and how humans have worked with beeswax over millennia. Then you will learn how to render beeswax for candle making over a fire, and hand dip candles from beeswax. You’ll take home a set of two hand dipped candles for your own ritual needs. All skill levels welcome, no candle making experience is necessary. All TKB class fees in 2024 will go towards leadership development for their emergent Northeast LGBTQIA+ & BIPOC Beekeeping Alliance network project with Island Bee Project in NYC. The Alliance supports LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC Beekeeper professional development in innovative, collaborative and supportive learning environments. Because of the way the store works on the website, payment for this Field Trip is a little clunky! To accommodate two sliding scales within one “product” we made some TKB-specific coupon codes you will find below. Let us know if you have questions.

  • Intentional Peer Support overview (7 hrs, $20) - Join Calvin Moen for a day-long, queer-centric overview of IPS, which is a practice of co-creating supportive relationships and, ultimately, stronger communities. Peers come together around shared experiences and often a desire to change lives. But without a new framework to build upon, people frequently re-enact “help” based on what was done to them. IPS offers a foundation for doing something different. We come from a history of grassroots alternatives that focus on building relationships that are mutual, explorative, and conscious of power. In this one-day overview, participants will learn about the shared history of LGBTQ+ and Mad struggles for liberation as well as the tasks and principles of Intentional Peer Support. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and have interactive discussions.

  • Giant Journey Farm (4 hrs, $0-10) - Spend some time grounding on the land in small ritual, walking, talking, and doing some light work as we feel moved. This will be a lightly structured but co-created space, to consider what stewardship and cultivation of the land can be, what farming is and could be, and the benefits of queering the reproductive work of food production. There is a large forest playscape for kids and a very family friendly atmosphere. Because of the way the store works on the website, payment for this Field Trip is a little clunky! To accommodate two sliding scales within one “product” we made some Giant Journey-specific coupon codes you will find below. Let us know if you have questions.

Also of note: parking will be at Kindle Farm (next to the NewBrook Fire House on rt 30) and we'll walk up through the forest to the farm. Folks with mobility (or other relevant) concerns are welcome to park at the farm to avoid the hike but Giant Journey’s space is unfortunately not ADA compliant.
